Hi all,
sorry for not posting sooner, "trouble at mill" (pls put on a northern accent for authenticity)
Open meeting on Sunday, first race at. 11.00, two back-to-back before lunch, third after lunch.  Aim for prize giving at 16.00

Pls do let me know if you are going to be there.

This is a Vintage and 4plank event and also a MAAT event, so many points to be gathered for two series.

Don't forget we have a much improved access road now, we also have central heating but we shouldn't need that.  Lunch will be available so some idea of numbers would help with catering.

really look forward to seeing many friends there.
regards,
Christine

Just a reminder for this Saturday.
Training starts at 11.00 and will be finished by 16.00
please bring your own lunch as the club facilities are busy that day, although small snacks and drinks are available all day
Training is being led by John Sears.
please can you let me know if you are attending or need a crew or directions
the club access road has been upgraded, but not in total, the bit round the farmhouse is still lumpy.I look forward to seeing you all there....   And for the open meeting the next day.

regards,
C

NoR will be posted on website soon, but this is a gentle reminder of the event.
Anticipated entrants would be great so I can have some idea of numbers,

hope to see many of you there, sorry I have not been out anywhere yet but please don't take it as lack of interest, just too much else on.
kind regards

Does anyone have a significant birthday or anniversary this year that needs us to mark it in the traditional N12 style?

Last year we wet David's head because he got his bus pass  and such a great evening that was.  This year,  we could try for Paul's bus pass but that's 6 months old by now...... so he may think it is a bit passe...

and I really think I have done enough to mark being 50.........  but I enjoyed the whole thing so much I'm on a roll.....

WOL COTTAGE in Burnham Markup (Trent Valley Staging Out-post, campers, hi-de-hi, et al,   and etc) looks a busy location this year, but due to some consideration of the owner's feelings and property it is a tad tricky to host a large gathering there - so how do we all feel about a beach-side event if we can find a way around local bye-laws - Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday evening look like good options - but I am happy to organise with the majority decision for the day/location/style of event.

So names on a postcard please - or by notice here - of your support/ideas/suggestions etc etc

This is really a bit of a first thought flier so anyone with contributions/ideas etc will be greatfully welcome to join the discussion

Since our first posting about coaching events and open meeting at Trent Valley for weekend of 12th and 13th May we have heard from many of you wishing to attend this weekend:

BUT:

we now have a more confirmed DO:

We are still hosting a coaching event on 12th May
We are still holding an open meeting on 13th May

BUT WE ARE ALSO HOLDING A BIT OF A DO:

there will be an Indian buffet and event in the evening of 12th May - Paul has a quiz with a bit of a theme around 50   [not sure why?]

we/I am hosting it so consider this an open invite to anyone who wishes to attend or is in the area:

please confirm your attendance by:
10th May to christinepreston@talktalk.net

Now that we are all returned from Brightlingsea, perhaps it is time to consider some of the rest of the season's events.

Trent Valley are hosting a MAAT, Vintage and 4-plank open meeting on 11th September.

Paul has emailed out details to nearly the whole world  (ok, I may exagerate a tad here) in his recent circular for the MAAT circuit, but just in case anyone isn't on that list (and it is a long one !!!) -

I am posting here:

Event summary:

3 races, all to count, 1st race at 11am, with 2nd back-to-back before lunch.  3rd race after lunch, with anticipated prize-giving at 16.30.  Depending upon turnout, we will have a seperate start for faster boats, followed by Vintage boats 5 mins later, for each race.

There are still some of the Turner Vintage collection available for borrowing - usual fees apply - if anyone wishes to give vintage sailing on a river a go  ;)

Lunch will be available.

Storms and Force 6 winds cannot be guaranteed, so if anyone is looking for a replay of Brightlingsea............   just think of the amount of tacking it would involve ?!?!?!?! if that is what we get.

please let me know via here, or email christinepreston@talktalk.net or 07914786391  if you are planning to be there, if you would like lunch (usual dietary requirements please) or any other enquiries.

look forward to seeing you all,
regards

If anyone has any anecdotes and/or photos of N12 sailing at Trent Valley, I would be really grateful to receive them by email. I am keenly aware the Trent Valley website needs an update as far as N12s are concerned, and, as I was not involved in sailing (at all!!!!) before October 1987, I am missing direct access to the "70's" - if all the stories I have heard are true, I will be inundated with journalistic copy ! or may be not ! if innocent parties wish to remain anonymous!!!!.  All contributions gratefully accepted and will be credited appropriately.
with very kind regards and in grateful anticipation
CPx  :)

Hello all,

To help with planning the event - especially the Saturday evening dinner, we would be pleased to have indications of numbers, bookings etc sooner rather than later.

We have prayed to the gods of N12 Open meetings for perfect conditions but are still waiting for their email response.

To help with the evening event, we can be flexible about the fancy dress, we know some are a bit theatrically challenged and would prefer to come incognito - not in fancy dress    8)

Really looking forward to greeting, meeting everyone for the weekend.  Please do let Christine (Preston - yes she changed her name to confuse the life out of everyone) know by phone 07914786391 or mail christinepreston@talktalk.net

Please watch this space for updates of details.  Booking can be informal to the above contact details until the entry form is posted on the website.

many thanks
