Well done to the organisers of this event in particular Tom & Charlotte Stewart and Lesley Iles.  The weekend was great, the sun even appeared on Saturday as Tom promised, shame that was the last we saw of it!

I am not going to work out exactly how old I will be, but I should be around for the 100th!

Hamble River Sailing Club invites the Merlin Rocket, Firefly,
National 12 & Foxer classes to the 49th Hamble Warming Pan over the weekend
of 19th & 20th March. The racing follows the same
format as previous years, two races a day with a break for lunch with river
starts & finishes off the HRSC clubhouse, excursions into Southampton Water
depending on the weather.

The club will be providing class starts for Fireflies, Merlins,
National 12 and Foxers. The Regatta for the National 12s will form part of
their Gill Series and for the Merlins it will be part of their Silver Tiller
Series. A new venture this year is races for under16s in Pico dinghies which
will be run in a separate course area.

Over 80 boats are expected to take part over the weekend which as
always will provide great spectator sport as races are run just metres from the
banks of the river. An added bonus for competitors is that entry fees have been
kept at the same level as last year, at just £25 a boat with single handers at
half price.

Once again HRSC is gearing up to provide competitors to this
classic early season event with good racing, plenty of hot food all day and a
friendly welcome. On Saturday night the club will host a Spaghetti Bolognese
evening, a quiz and charity raffle, all helped along by some of the cheapest
beer in Hamble.

The Notice of Race, accommodation hints and other useful
information are available on Hamble River
Sailing Club website
.
We are looking forward to welcoming the National 12 Class to the Warming Pan on 19th and 20th March. We have managed to hold last years entry fee of £25 for 2011 for both days with an entry fee of £15 if only doing one day.
The NoR will be up on the clubs website by close of play tomorrow, the site also has a link to details of the day including the evening meal, quiz and charity raffle. I have attached a Warming Pan preview notice which I sent to Yachts and Yachting earlier in the week.
Once again looking forward to the National 12 Class at the Warming Pan and hope for a bumper entry.

Regards

Ian Sumner RCS

We have promised Hamble a good turnout so hope you will be there.

Hi

The 2011 fixtures list in now ready and has been posted onto the main website - http://www.national12.org/events/2011/events.shtml .  I would like to say it is 100% perfect but I do know that dates change and some of the clubs were not able to commit to a date at time of printing so please do keep an eye on the website / mailings for updates throughout the year.

I have just seen an email from Tom Stewart stating the Inlands this weekend are postponed - the water has been closed because of an infestation of killer shrimp.  I kid you not, read more here - http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/news/123215.aspx

Dear All
Another opportunity to show off in the N12 (other than Bloody Mary, Grafham Grand Prix, Battle of the Classes etc) is at Northampton Sailing Club on Saturday 30th January at the Steve Nicholson Memorial Race.  Two races with a break for lunch in between and a chance to watch another fleet over a pasty.
All proceeds from the event go to Asthma Research and usually raises around the £2k mark.
Please come along and support - you are guaranteed to be sailing against other 12s.

With Burton Week(end) now taking place in May winter sailing seems more important since the months of June and July have been removed from the practise calendar.  What are everyone's plans for winter sailing?  Thorpe Bay and Burghfield appear to be options but wondered if anyone was thinking of anything midlands based?

Dear All
An unusual post but Kevin and I are hoping to attend this event but have a technical issue with my two small daughters.  Too small to sail and certainly too small to be left to sit on the side!  Their Dad is off to an event at Shoreham - soooo....are there any local babysitters or anyone going along and not sailing who would like to care for my adorable children?

Sadly, Richard Estaugh passed away this weekend.  He was an outstanding sailor who also made sails for many fleets including the occasional Twelve.  I don't have any further details at the moment but will post when the funeral is set.

...how was it?  My informer was not so impressed with the 12 on display.  What were everyone else's thoughts?

The Steve Nicholson Race takes place at Northampton Sailing Club on Saturday 24th January.  All proceeds to Asthma Research.
Two races - first start at 11am with lunch in between.  We usually get around 110 boats altogether and it would be great to get a good fleet of 12s there as we had at the Bloody Mary.
Further details:

Kevin and I will be there in 3512, Alpha Male and hoping this year to keep it upright!

General National 12 chat / Sea Sailing
21 Jul 2008, 09:26
With the exception of Richard and Lindsey you ALL missed the most amazing sailing this weekend.  Thorpe Bay never dissapoints - great piece of open water with just a five minute sail to the start.  It was pretty breezy with the odd gust of 35 MPH but the 12s put on a great display and put some much larger boats and crew combinations to shame.
Rich and Lindsey sailed overall faster laps to beat us in the handicap series, but the four races ended with two races a piece.  Bring on the windy Burton Week - we are ready!
Steve Le Grys took some great shots so look forward to seeing some of those.

Just back from a great day's sailing at Pagham.  Really good to be on the sea!  We managed to get four really good races in today in SUNSHINE and force 3.
Lots of you missd out....

I know this was a point of debate at the 2007 AGM and wondered if any decisions had been made.  I need to sort out a lot of different people in order to get myself on the water and therefore need ALL the information.

Any idea, anyone?
