Happy New Year everyone!

The 2018 fixture list is now up on the events page of the website. This year we have 9 great venues on the Gul Series including Brixham for Burton Week, Trent Valley and Shoreham. Dates of a few events are still to be confirmed including 12 Fest at Rutland in June, the Midland Area event at Olton Mere, and a couple of the Northern Area fixtures so keep an eye on the website over the next few weeks.

I hope to see you on the water in 2018.

You can now enter online for 12 Fest, the National 12 class' summer coaching and fun sailing event at Rutland Water on 15th/16th July. There will be on the water coaching throughout the weekend with professional coach Steve Irish joining us on Saturday, who you may remember from an excellent coaching day at 12 Fest couple of years ago. On the Sunday there'll be informal sprint racing and chance to get top tips from sailors with 17 Burton Cup wins between them. On top of this there will be fun and games throughout the weekend so don't miss out!

There is a hefty early entry discount before the end of June supported by the NTOA so enter now at http://www.national12.org/events/registration.shtml

You only need 3 things to get to the biggest National 12 event of the year, a boat, a helm and a crew. If you're missing one or two of these here's how to get sorted.

Burton Week is one of the oldest sailing events in the world running for over 80 years. This year it will be held at Weymouth Sailing Club with 4 days of racing from 19th to 22nd August. We'll be based in the friendly sailing club in the town but benefiting from the nearby Olympic sailing area in the bay. You can find everything you need to know on the dedicated event website http://www.national12.org/burtonweek/2017/

So if you are looking for a helm or crew or fancy borrowing a well sorted boat for the champs all you need to do is email crew@national12.org and we'll match you up. Early entry discount runs until the end of the month so don't delay - get in touch now!

Online entry is open for the Salcombe Yacht Club regatta week from 13th-17th August. Enter before the end of June for early entry discount. The event is sponsored by Salcombe Gin and the first 100 entries will be entered into a prize draw for a pair of tickets to the gin school and a free bottle (it's really good gin). Entries are filling up fast so enter here now!

If you're lucky enough to be a student there is a very generous discount (it's nearly free), and we currently have the most entries of any class so it will be the perfect warm-up for Burton Week.

If you needed any more persuading...it's Salcombe Week!

Remember, remember, the 5th of November...
The 2016 Gul Series Finale and Inland Championships takes place at Northampton Sailing Club on 5th and 6th November. There will be three Gul series and Inland Championships races on Saturday, starting at 12.30 on the Saturday, with a briefing taking place at 11.30am. The prize giving for the Gul Series will take place in the evening. The Inland Championships then concludes on the Sunday with two back to back races starting at 10am.
Saturday evening entertainment includes the traditional Northampton Bonfire and Fireworks Party (please bring along one large firework to help with the display). There will be food from Elaine's superb galley and after the fireworks the club will be hosting a disco.
For those hardy sailors (and their families) free camping is available for the weekend on site, and there is also a wide range of other accommodation options nearby.
For more information about the sailing programme, the social and where to stay, see the Notice of Race. The SIs for the weekend are also up on the homepage.
The event is always popular, so don't miss it!

Unfortunately we're cancelling this event as only a small number of boats will be able to make it. As an alternative we are planning a coaching and racing day in Salcombe early next season and you won't have to wait too long for your next Salcombe fix with the early May Bank Holiday open meeting already booked for next year.
