N508 was successfully raced by Alan Vines at Ranelagh (Putney) in the early-1950s when I first sailed there as a crew. She was then no longer called Dionic as far as I can recall.

I think N500 Flip McGilda was owned and sailed by Noel Jordan at Ranelagh (Putney) when I first sailed there in the early-1950s.

An early owner of this boat was Peter Cook, one time editor of Yachts & Yachting. I think he built the boat (from a shell) and gave it the unusual name of Phfftt or similar, the sound a text message can make when it is sent from a mobile phone. I met him at Fareham during winter series of racing in the late-1950s.

Boats / Re: N1855 Clea

This boat was originally owned by Bobby Pegna of Ranelagh Sailing Club? We had a marvellous neck and neck race with Bobby and Barbara at the Hamble River Sailing Club open meeting in 1960 or 61. I am glad to say that we won.

Correction - I am now reliably informed/reminded that Bobby Pegna's boat was Clea (N1855).

Boats / Re: N2324 Cinderella

I was the first owner of Cinderella (N2324) and the first Proctor Mark 12. She was the last of my four Twelves. I fatefully experimented with an angling centreboard which necessitated a wide centrebaord slot. In my hands, the boat never had any success, probably carrying a lot of water inside the box and with the unavoidable drag from wide sealing rubbers. I wonder if any subsequent owner modified this centreboard arrangement back to something more conventional. I am also suspicious of the built-in buoyancy fore and aft. This would make the boat torsionally stiffer and increase her pitching moment of inertia; both factor may be a bad thing. I abandoned further experiments and sold her because I was building a house and raising a a family at that time. I would be pleased to hear from any later owner.
