Would there be anyone there who would be able to measure sails. or is there anywhere I can get them done befor?

Team Roly Mo will be there, with Andrew crewing and Bernard trying to manage without his crutch! The girls are just looking forward to some good old chilling, and of course the curry night!
Annandale's hospitality is the stuff of legends, and it's always a well supported and incredibly well run meeting so hopefully lots more people will come out to play. Understand Chadders is a pretty definite possibility too.

I was going to post somthing to get an idea of numbers once I got the notice of race but never mind. Agent Orange will be there and I am pretty sure a certain ardvark will be sniffing about. As for b&b John Hugo would be the man to speak to, Last year we camped in the boat park! Curry night should not be missed, last year Bernard and Howard wined all night........ but only because it was included in the price.8)

A quick google revealed these three. The first one is about 1/2 a mile from the sailing club, the second a couple of miles away, and the third about 6 miles away.
Boatpark camping possibly not a goer anymore, we went and put gravel down over most of it although there is a small patch of grass.

Anybody any idea of the time of the first race on the Saturday- the Club website suggests 13.00 - is that right?? Would certainly make travelling up on Sat am more manageable.
Many thanks for all the accomodation pointers Team Squidgy are now booked in. Briarwood has only one room left but we got in at Smallrigg which looks to be in walking distance. We will be driving up am Saturday too so 1300 looks like a good start time.
We're coming. Kiddy care sorted but no accommodation for saturday night yet. Either going to camp or B&B it. Might wait until a bit closer to the time to see what the weather is doing.
Be interested to see the new piece of gear on Bernard's boat, rumuor is that he has got a dangley crutch!

As Luke is OOD, I hope he will confirm Saturday start time. ASC usually start the first race after noon, to allow more time for travellers.
Greg, I hope we will be seeing you again at Annandale, in a Twelve this time. ASC race management are not normally too strict about measurement. but I am expecting Brian Herring to be there, and I am sure he will oblige.
I aim to provide some more B&B addresses in the next couple of days, and I will check out the possibilities of camping at the Club.

Will there be room for the Daisy Bus to park up at the club for the weekend? Those signs in the toilet blocks at the nearby campsite about washing and gutting fish are TOO frightening for words!

Ulp.... I suspect the one o'clock start is right, I haven't been alerted to any alterations to what is in the club programme. Parking the bus should be ok I would suspect, although we might need to check that for you. I suppose it depends on how many GPs we have coming.
Thanks John, I will be there, accomodation booked!! will have to see how I get on in a 12 rather than a GP! I'll get there early so if there is a chance of measuring sails there will be time. Hoping for a little less wind than there was last time I was there!! really looking forward to it. I take it the event is joined with the GP's again?

Just back from a jolly committee meeting.
1300 start on the Saturday.
GP Training on the Saturday then an open on the Sunday. Not the Scottish this year so should be a much smaller fleet.
Will be ok for Daisy Bussage.

Thanks Kenny, you've done my job again. Pity you're going to be too busy to rig to rig my boat, which Dave winder says now looks as good as new. Unfortunately, there's still the old problem of the nut on the end of the tiller.
Let's hope the catering will be up to last years standard. I'd better make sure Angus gets his vegetarian option.

Notice of race is now posted on the web site in case anybody hasn't noticed.
Hi - NOR states that 6 races are scheduled to be sailed over the two days but that only TWO races need to be completed to constitute a series.
Does that mean sailing two races is all you need to do to qualify - or am I missing something? Tim
I think it just means that two races have to be completed for the trophy to be awarded.
That's what I thought - so is there a particular minimum no of races we need to do to qualify?
Tim I think 11.3 answers your question. Basically more than 4 races 1 discard, less than 4 no discard if I've read it right.

A lot of work has been done on the path along that side of the loch and is really is quite nice. In fact I may go for a stroll there myself this afternoon.

Just be warned, there always used to be terrifying notices at Halleaths warning that anyone from the statics caught in the toilet blocks would be charged (with what we always wondered) and banning the gutting and filleting of fish in the loo blocks too! Nice site though, and quite handy for the club. You will see it on the right as you come towards Lochmaben.

up to now weather looks fair and winds lightish.
Am I obsessive? I keep logging back and of course they're constantly revising the wind forecast for sat afternoon. was 2-3mph , then upgraded to 11 - 12mph and lately 7 - 10 mph for eskdalemuir. Did three in a drifter on sunday past; - have no wish for a repeat. Double figures would be nice.

Well, I should be packing not posting. we're looking forward to the trip.
Predictions for the weekend have been variable. I see chart now predicts general hp but with weak depression forming off southern Ireland. With lines on the chart the odds are it will not be a drifter. Will we get the nose up? - Lets hope so!
Annandale seems to get the sea breeze effect. Don't know how southern ireland will effect it. Boat packed and ready, motor home sort of ready, the rest of us no where near.

Well, what can we say? Nothing much except that the event exceeded expectations and that Annandale ought to get an award for running the best open meetings in terms of both sailing and value for money. Thanks to Andrew Greenhalgh for organising it all for us (you can leave out the thunderstorm if you want next year, but it did make for good spectator sport) for all those involved in the racing and for all those who made the curry evening the feast it was. Lots of pics on Mrs RM's Facebook page (if you are new to Facebook you can't miss it - shot of Mrs RM and Miss RM).:)
Ankle sort of stood up to it, but contemplating fitting much bigger kick bars in the bottom of the boat!

Annadale is quite simply the friendliest club I have ever visited so thanks to all those involved. Thanks to Andrew, to Ken for being an excellent RO, and to Shirley et al for such high standards of catering - I don't get food that good at home! A lot of people contributed a lot of effort to making the event a success. The weather ensured those on the water had to contribute a bit by way of effort too.
We came back with a coaching tip off Ken - work on those gybes; and I have a 'note to self' - PIN THE RUDDER!

Annadale SC and Castle Loch 0715 Sunday Morning, before the fun began .. again. Angus was already at work repairing his shroud tension gear (out of view)
What can I add? An absolutley fantastic weekend and thanks to all at Annandale for making it happen and the race team for awaiting our finish after the thunderstorm and 30mph suddenly stopped and dropped to zero wind and a steady downpour. Great sailing, fantastic social and catering. We will try very hard to come back next year!
I'd just like to add my thanks for another brilliant weekend at Annandale SC - I thought last year's event was good but this seemed better - there was certainly more wind. For those of you who weren't there a big 'well done' to Mark and Emma on becoming the 2009 N12 Scottish champions and congratulations to Jo and Greg, new comers to the Class, who pushed them all the way to take 2nd place.
Sailing Med's old boat 'Max Factor', they put on an impressive performance - especially given that this was their first competitive event in a 12 and they'd only taken the boat out a few times previously 'to get the hang of how it all hung together' as Greg modestly put it during the Curry Evening on the Saturday night. What a pity they can't get down to Thorpe Bay.
A big thanks also to Cathy Hugo who stood in for Yvonne for a couple of windy races and shared some time with me both in and out of the boat in the very cold waters of Castle Loch- my learning curve in the recently acquired 'Baggy' was very steep! In short, a really worthwhile event which deserves an even bigger turnout next year. See you there.
Yes another brilliant event put on by Annandale. even if the wind was a bit stronger than I ordered. can hardly move today though. By the time I got home last night I had started to seize up something cronic.
The freak out is certainly more fun than the crusader although we do need to move a bit quicker ourselves. Bit more practise needed.

It was great to get an excellent turn-out. I hope you will all be back with increased numbers next year. Annandale really likes to host N12 events, and Andrew G was very complementary, and said what a pleasure it was to run the event for such a well behaved fleet.
It was really good to see such high levels of enthusiasm and skill being displayed by some much younger 12 sailors than those already mentioned, despite the challenging racing conditions. In particular, in the teenage bracket, Andrew Mitchell and Rohan Beyts crewing for Bernard Clark and Angus Beyts, (3rd and 6th respectively) and in the 12 yrs and under bracket - the father/son /daughter combinations of Ben Palmer with his dad Chris and Rebecca Bryant with her dad Richard (5th and 7th places) all did extremely well to survive Saturday's squall and still come out smiling on Sunday for the final three races. Well done. (Ben, I hear, is already looking forward to sailing at Thorpe Bay.)
Ah, thanks Tim, I will show this to Ben. I agree conditions were tough for the younger participants. Poor Ben has not made it in to school for two days; on the journey back he exhibited signs of something viral ( cold or flu-like) made worse perhaps by the degree of fatigue. We were *&^£$% ! Some degree of mobility has returned to me through today!
Great competition mid-fleet and not all plain sailing at the front? Do you have the same impression as me that Max Factor just got better and better with each race? Joanne and Greg are one nice team.
