Courtesy of John Chalker and his early copies of Aldeburgh YC's handbook's I can confirm that -
Hornet was originally built in 1931 to the Aldeburgh 12ft Restricted Class Rules, sail number R5 and was owned by P.V.Mackinnon. She was re-registered as N16 in 1936. P.V. Mackinnon still owned Hornet in 1946.

This early picture shows Hornet as R5 racing with Wizard (R26, latterly N70) and Delilah (R3, latterly N29)
