Just booked into the Brightlingsea motel. How many faces from last time will be there again??
Christine and I will be there, too! Probably in China Doll N2403 although..... Px 8)
My Cheshire Cat is 40 years old in August so the plan is to be there to celebrate... Her first major event was Falmouth Burton week 1976 :)
Don't think that room would hold the five Copseys' again so have booked a cottage this time.
I sold my Cheshire cat earlier this year but my first Burton week was 1976 in a Paper dart(crewing for David Sallis)
Look forward to seeing it there.
Just booked my accommodation for what will be my first Burton since 1992...... :D
...now just need to find a (small) crew...any takers? or Offers? And decide which boat to bring.....Ribbie? Vintage? 4P? or AC?
Considering dragging 443 out her shed for another crack at those pesky Dead Cats.
Jonathan your attendance is compulsory. You are allowed to pick and choose your days according to the weather but you must attend!
I hear a rumour that N23 Farandole - Burton Cup winner in 1937 has been fully restored and may make an appearance!
Looks like I may have some competition for last place!
Anyone after a crew? I will need to book the AL by end of April otherwise no chance of coming (also need to sort doggy daycare, unless there is already someone coming along who is willing & able to be terrorised by 2 borders?)
May I attempt to Burton with ten crews in board? >:(
...in a N12, the number of crews is unlimited? Is it?
I have booked accommodation and already entered...and also just need a (small) crew now...volunteers gratefully accepted!
Entry form complete, just about to send it off. Looking forward to a Burton Week on localish waters!
Entry form returned today.
Maria and I will see you there with Bouncer :)
Who will be running measurement at Brightlingsea?
Hi Dare, I have taken weight out of the original F'in Boat so look forward to racing for the Clinker Trophy again.
Always close - Gavin
Look forward to the company Gavin, new set of planks this year, just off to do a bit more varnishing. Dare
Hi Clare. Can you give me a call. Dare 01983 529901
New boat goes sailing this Friday and going to Devon next Friday to be measured . That's the good news, but still looking for a crew is the not so good news. If somebody is free to sail please give me a call. Dare Barry. 01983 529901
Thanks for the call Gill, crew now sorted.
3547 has now got its bottom wet.
Great news Dare!
Burton Week is getting increasingly closer now....get those entries in!
I am looking for a crew to sail with me in Carbonara N3502. Any volunteers or ideas for people to ask?
I'd like to have new sails measured before racing starts, can I make an appointment with a measurer? We will be there on Friday so Friday pm or Saturday morning would be ideal, usual fees liquid or otherwise available.
I also have some used sails available to sell and will take to the event.
I am planning to arrive around lunchtime Friday. Happy to measure sails during the afternoon.
Thanks Kevin, perfect. Jeremy.
Dart Crossing. If coming from the south don't forget to pay for your dart crossing.
Does anyone know what the dress code is for the Burton dinner???
Anyone available to measure a suit of sails for us on Saturday please?
Hopefully Jonno but I am waiting for confirmation. If not then Mike Hoyle but he will not arrive early. What are you after Dave?
Anyone still looking for accommodation we are willing to let our flat. 100m from the club, 1 bedroom but with 2 sofa beds in the lounge and fantastic views of the creek could sleep 6 or a family. £130 a night for a luxury time in brightlingsea, firstname.lastname@example.org
Social wise, we're having a quiz after the bbq on the Monday evening, the dinner on the Sunday and an all-inclusive games night on the Saturday!
At the daily buddy prize giving we will also hear from those at the front of the fleet about why they took some of the decisions during racing to inform and encourage those further down the fleet.
Look forward to seeing everyone from Friday onwards!
PIMM ;) S ON THE WAY
Great long weekend at Brightlingsea Burton 2016. Thanks the all those who came. It was a great celebration of 80 years of our class.
Looking forward to Weybiza 2017
Fantastic time at Brightligsea, brilliant to have such a range of National 12s on the same race course!
Everyone who didn't come really missed out, let's keep the momentum up for the 2017 Nationals!
Yes, a great event and a very friendly club. Champagne sailing on Tuesday... we came to celebrate our old boat's 40th and the last thing we expected was to pick up a couple of pots! Also, some great reports on the Y&Y site
There were lots of good photos from Sunday on the big screen at the club - are these available anywhere?
Thanks to everyone who organised the event and especially to Janet and Johnno who sorted us out :-)
Hi Dave the photos can be accessed at the web link pasted above.
Thanks these are great! There were also some taken on Sunday, I guess the SUnday ones were a club member?
I am on the trail of the Sunday ones Dave. Sorry not to have had time to chat at Burton Week, but well done on your result, great effort.
Hi Ed, Thanks for your kind comments, we only came to celebrate the old boat's 40th year... didn't expect to win anything. It was dam hard work the first two days, we were happy to finish in one piece. Still we had a blast and were also rewarded with great conditions on Tuesday.
The Sunday pics were good; these Fiona Brown ones are excellent quality and it is very generous of her to offer royalty free to competitors.
