I've managed to steal a boat for the weekend - hope everyone else is as desperate to sail at cheddar this weekend as I am!
See you all there

I wont be there for several reasons, one of which being no boat, which i suppose is a good thing lol.
Hope everyone has a great time!!
All dressed up and nowhere to go........................
I would love to sail at Cheddar (can only make the Saturday) but, alas, I have no crew as all the members of the Coven are otherwise engaged!
Any volunteers for Crazy Diamond's third voyage?
Lucky lot!
You talk about not having a crew Paul, whereas I'm talking about having icebergs in our local lake !!!!! >:(
Still, new Alverbank sails arriving via TNT today (thanks Kevan) ;D and lots to do under cover.... but all the same... Some people have all year sailing and still aren't happy.... :P

Hey Adele - we did the entertainment bit the other weekend - it's someone else's turn this time! I have a nice straight burgee that we can use.
See you there - I trust you've been making those daily vistis to the Gym!!!

Having not 12 sailed since grafham, or a tippy beast like a Foolish since 2001 I think me and Em might be doing the entertainment on the water!
For anyone who gets off the M5 at Weston Super Mare and goes the back roads to Cheddar, Banwell is basically closed, cant get through...
Cheers
Mike
Hehehe, pleased to hear about the straight burgee (otherwise i think people might gather the state of our - or rather the crews, sailing technique!!!).
No comment regarding the gym, except that my kit is still in the car from when i was supposed to go running before sailing at spinnaker . . . opps!!!
Looking forward to seeing lots of you there.
Adele
Well as Dad and I will be making an appearance this weekend we, well Dad's pink trousers at the very least, should be providing some entertainment!
Look forward to seeing everybody there

just seen the weather forecast on the bbc website. 23 miles an hour each day. sun and rain too and not too cold. does it get any better than this?
Forcast sounds good to me Meds. Shame you will only be buggy minding. Or are you taking your kit ready to jump into the front end if Katy has enough?
Kevin
With that forecast, can anyone lend me a Big Issue?!
Mike
given your earlier comments - are big issues easier to right than a foolish, or just easier to sail?. Not bringing any kit other than nappies. I will be admiring everyone's technique...
meds
If it is going to be windy - does anyone need a crew? Aaah just one catch no-one to look after the little person!
Jane :'(
Meds, Easier to sail. Could never keep the bow out of the water downwind in my old foolish - I have to remember to put it back down in the Issue....
Jane, you can sail with Meds. Lesley can look after all the buggies (and their occupants) as she won't be going near the water.
There, that's another boat!
Kevin
Excellent spectator sport this weekend. Well done to all those who had a go. Bristol airport weather monitoring recorded 41mph at 3.05pm. I guess that was the big puff in the final race.
For the record Tom & Liz capsized 6 times, but still won 2 out of 5 races and won overall on tiebreak from Graham & Zoe who swam less and won 1 race. Ian & Alex also won 2 races, and swam more than Graham & Zoe but not as much as Tom & Liz. Chris Bishop is looking for a new mast. Frances & Sophie almost won the final race with Tom & Liz swimming for the second race in succession in sight of the finish line. However Tom & Liz limped across the line with the jib wrapped around the forestay just ahead. Frances complained he had an unfair advantage as she had too much sail area.
For the record it appeared that tacking round was more risky than gybing. Remarkable.
Should be less wind at trent valley...
A huge thank you to all those involved in making it a great weekend. I thorougly enjoyed the event and I hope others did as well.
The seminar in the evening was extremely entertaining but also had some more serious points addressed. The club house now has an interesting gallery of what the perfect crew should look like! ;D
Hope you have all dried out now, Happy Easter!
Take a look at http://www.bcyc.org.uk/gallerys/N12%20Open%202006/slides/HPIM0307.html for a picture of Tom this weekend demonstrating how a modest amount of windward heel provides additional lift.
Ouch..... :o :o :o :o
Or rather Splash..... ;D
Very exciting - wish I could have been there.
Got wind 3-4 Bft. this afternoon on the Ammersee - I might just bunk off early for a "quicky".....
