I built Splinter from a shell to my deck design and Don also made the foils. There were problems in some of the bondings at some of  the stress points (shroud anchorage) without making things too heavy, as foam sandwich was quite new in those days. This boat was a good allrounder but had funny habits running in a blow. I only had her for one season 1972, before going offshore and leanring how not to be seasick. I had a Needlespar rig and a set of Sanders sails  of Lymington designed and cut  by a chap called Matthias, who had sailed Twelves in the 1950/60 era.
