Title: 70th Burton Race - which year?
Post by: THG on 21 Dec 2007, 11:46
Anyone know when the actual 70th Burton would be sailed (war years missed a few) and I can't find my class history book to work it out.

Michael Brookman would obviously know, there is little about the class that he does not know.

The handbook suggests that it was sailed in 1936, as we know, for the first time and the war years missed were1940-45 inclusive.  I make that 66 sailings to date, but i might be wrong.

Just a small point on this subject; as Antony observes and also the handbook confirms, 6 years were lost from Burton Week sailing during WWII, 1940 - 45 inclusive. not 5, but that still means that the class has held 66.
