Hi Amelia

Town regatta has always had morning racing in a handicap fleet.  great to sail with the kids.  racing on 5 days.
YC regatta has afternoon class racing for 12s.  In one keen year i even did morning handicap in YC week with the kids too.  racing on 6 days.  This has the best racing
We will be there for at least one week.  Need to decide which....

HI  Look forward to seeing you there! We will wobble around Salcombe Yacht club regatta. If you fancy the morning light airs and racing in a handicap fleet the town regata is good, but tides can be strong that week as they always time it for the springs.  However, loads of events on in the town crab catching competitions, fireworks etc. Yacht club regatta is more competitive racing with more 12's but a small friendly fleet. The water gets busy with other racing craft from other fleets and the National 12s are in the afternoon, tides tend to be meeker that week. Which ever you chose the surroundings are beautiful, sailing from Mill Bay and the beach lovely, the racing is good with all those creeks to explore and the club house has a great view. If you want to give it a try we have an open meeting wekend in May I believe.

I would suggest
Higher Rew http://www.higherrew.co.uk/ (http://www.higherrew.co.uk/)
or
Alston Farm http://www.alstoncampsite.co.uk/ (http://www.alstoncampsite.co.uk/)

We're doing the Yacht Club Regatta - we like the afternoon starts and having our own fleet start too!
There are also socials throughout the week at the YC.

Hi we found using the club showers which are nice and new  and Ilton Farm campsite a good combination. The showers at Ilton Farm campsite were being improved when we last went there a couple of years ago so are probably better now. Otherwise think of it as a farm . Ilton farm is nearer to Salcombe and has nice views of the upper reaches of the sailing area. When the kids were younger we used Higher Rew it is a little further away but very family friendly. Near Ilton farm is Ilton Castle camping, also a farm it is lovely, same views but you can't book and they don't advertise... just try your luck.  Some friends use campsites at Hope Cove which have fantastic views towards Plymouth so you can see the firework festival held there from your tent.
We hope to do a house swap again but if we can't may well be at Ilton castle.
