Title: Ram and Lowers
Post by: Marcus (Guest) on 31 Oct 2005, 03:50
I have just fitted a scooped foredeck that sweeps down from the shearline to centreboard case capping height on my latest creation. I intend to step the mast on this deck. Pehaps someone could let me know what I will need to fit to control the mast low down at gooseneck level and below. Can I simply get away with fitting a conventional set of lowers (and be VERY careful when I take the jib down!) or should I also be thinking about fitting a ram and possibly a space frame to control and support the mast appropriately?

Mike or Terry Cooke would be good guides for you on this - but if you decide to fit a strut, I have an Aardvark special completely unused sitting in my spares box and available at a reduced price!

Key question has to be, what mast are you using? This wil mean a huge amount as to what you can get away with in rigging it...

Cheers
