A small but enthusiastic band of National 12 sailors arrived at Grimwith to compete for the ANEYC Trophy and Team Transom to be greeted by a bright but cold day and a force 6 North Westerly wind. The warmth of the reception and coffee/bacon butties restored any fading confidence and although two crews did elect to stay ashore most of the fleet were on the water and raring to go at the ten minute gun.

Race one saw Philip David and Bernard Clark setting a blistering pace however due to heading off to the wrong mark/ some serious over standing the rest of the fleet were never too far away. At the finish line Bernard Clark and James Shipley were led over the line by Philip David and John Cheetham in first place. A close battle raged for 3^rd/4^th and 5^th places with Howard Chadwick and Helen Nicholson finishing third.

Race two again saw Philip and Bernard pull clear to leave David and Jennie Davies, Neil and Katie McInnes and Howard and Helen to a very close race for 3,4 and 5. The two very close races continued until on the last lap when Philip and Bernard went to a wrong mark and dropped behind the fleet. At the line 4 boats finished within seconds of each other with David Davies first, Howard second and Neil third closely followed by Philip David and then Bernard. Paul Metalfe and Cathy Lawson joined the fleet for this race however had to retire after performing a manoeuvre described by Cathy afterwards as "Doing a Titanic"

Race 3 was clearly going to be the decider and this time Philip made no mistakes taking first place from Bernard in 2^nd and David and Jennie in 3^rd place. With two firsts Philip and John were clear winners and the Team Trophy went to Yorkshire Ouse.
