N12 club

Ripon S.C. Home Page

Situated at Farnham Lakes near the North Yorkshire town of Knaresbrough. Sailing is on a 70-acre former gravel pit and provides challenging conditions for the racers, but a safe environment for new sailors. The club provides good facilities with a modern newly extended clubhouse and a range of training courses and social events. There is an active junior section.

There is a small but enthusiastic and active 12 fleet, with 12 boats currently registered at the club ranging from N 2399 Mr Jones to N 3400 a Design 8. Sailing is within the handicap fleet. The Open Meeting is held on the Saturday of the first weekend in October and coincides with the Yeadon Open Meeting on the Sunday, it regularly attracts an entry of 15-20 boats. Last year we hosted the ANEYC meeting with an entry of 31.

The club hosts a National 12 Training day in October excellently run by some of the top 12 sailors and is open to all. The sailing season concludes with an open frostbite series that attracts many of the 12' s from Yorkshire Ouse and provides some of the best sailing of the year.

Club members attend many of the Northern Area Open Meetings including the Lord Birkett weekend at Ullswater; this handicap event attracts over 180 entries from dinghies to cruisers. Several boats make the annual pilgrimage to Bassenthwaite Week, held over the first week in August.

Come and enjoy the camaraderie of the Northern 12 fleet, you will find us friendly, hospitable and helpful. If any 12 sailor or potential 12 sailor would like to visit or sail, call in at the club or contact
