Ely Sailing Club is situated at Roswell Waters, a 45 acre lake linked to the River Ouse, half a mile from the centre of Ely. The club is small but very friendly and is particularly popular with families. Racing is held on Sundays and some Saturdays from late March to Boxing Day. Alongside this the club offers sailing courses as an RYA recognised training establishment and full social programme including barbeques, quiz nights and novelty races. The club house provides a good vantage point over the sailing area and is well equipped with bar, galley, changing rooms and hot showers.
The Twelve fleet are a small but enthusiastic group of sailors.
Boats range from older designs including a Starfish, Warlocks
and a Cheshire Cat to more modern designs - Crusader, Baggy and
Final Chapter. The restricted water allows older designs to remain
highly competitive and the Twelves always perform well in handicap
races. Other fleets in the club are Enterprise, Laser, Mirror and
Topper and a keen fleet of junior sailors.
