I have a friend looking to get into 12 sailing

Looking for a good ac boat, baggy/d8 etc, preferably with carbon rig.
or a lower priced double bottom.
none of the ones on the for sale list are exactly what she wants, so were wondering if anyone has anything suitable that they were looking to sell for up to about £2000 for ac and £3500 for the db.

contact me and il pass on the details

Dear All,
As some of you will know I was trying to organize a
team for the Southport 24h last year, but a bit too late and couldn't get a team
together, I am ideally looking for a team of  12  ish people, for those of you
that don't know much about it here are some more details.

The Southport/ WLYC 24 Hour Race; The UK's No.1 dinghy endurance
race
.   The 24 Hour Race is the premiere opportunity for  teams to
compete for serious trophies (and status), whilst also enjoying the unique
hospitality provided by one of the best social events in the dinghy racing
calendar (The social event lasts for 48 hours - Friday,
through to Sunday)

The race is sailed on the relatively safe waters of the Marine Lake at
Southport, and racing is continuous for 24 Hours even in extreme weather
conditions.   Entries are accepted from Sailing Clubs, Class Associations and
Universities throughout the UK, with occasional visits from Eire, France and
even the USA.   Crew and equipment/sail changes are permitted (in a specially
designated docking area) during the race.

Don't be put off by the fact that the race is
sailed in ents larks of gp14's ( i will find a boat to borrow for the event) its
great fun and the small number of one design classes racing makes it very
competitive and tight racing.
This is a very competitive and fun event, usually
attracting 60+ boats.

THE LONG AWAITED
THE FANTASTIC
NATIONAL 12 YOUNG PEOPLES SERIES
BEG BORROW STEAL AND DIG OUT YOUR BOATS HELMS AND CREWS
AND GET OUT SAILING

The SERIES is Open to EVERYONE under and including 25 on November the 8th 2009 (last event of the year) But don't fear, if you are 25 in 2009 you can still compete up until youth birthday for individual opens.
Both Helm and Crew Must be Under and Incuding 25.

Currently There are no Cups or prizes that I can award.
Hopefully if I am allowed to give out some glasses, there will be a prize for first overall at each open, and dependant on turn out first second and third overall in the series as well as first ac if there are a few db's competing.
All boats will be racing withing the National 12 Open so will follow the Si's dictated by that. Of course all boats must be valid Nat 12's
I have chosen open meetings spread over the country, so sorry if there is some travelling involved for most people at some time but i think its pretty evenly spread.
I have avoided July  and most of August as I know this is busiest exam time and Hopefully Have Manged to Avoid Most of the Uni Exams In keeping most of May and June free too.

so heres the bit youv all been waiting for
the dates (still subject to comfirmation)

im proposting starting a u25's series for next year, its quite late now to organsie a separate series but if i get enough interest i will look into it.
but first of all i need to get interest in the series to see if i can get enough people to bother consulting the comittie about this.
i was thinking 5 events 3 to count.
piggy backed onto the circuit opens already planned, most likley to be salcombe, burghfield, first weekend of north norfolk week, burton week, and the inlands. but will re consider this once iv seen the open meeting list for next year,
i was also thinking to encourage more youth to these to arrange a little bit of extra social  most likley to be a quick trip to local pubs etc then back to the organised social.
hopefully separate prizes etc will be able to be arranged.
if anyone has any ideas please let me know, also if your interested please post below, ready made teams, helms withouth crews or boats, crews without helms and so on

I have been doing a bit of rs200 sailing this year. I know I’m sorry.

But looking at their youth side etc its great to see how they encourage are
and how much emphasis is given to the youth and youth events.

In order to get more young people in the class, I have a few ideas,

For instance have a more publicised youth champs, maybe a weekend event? If
people were will be kind enough to lend their boats to people from other
classes to come to the champs, obviously we wouldn’t lend boats out to anyone,
would be trustworthy people who are good sailors. 12's are great boats to sail
and we need to let people in other classes know this, I’m sure we can find 10
helms and crew from other fleets easily and probably 5 from within the n12
fleet. 15 boats for a weekend open is pretty good, and if this were to be the
youth champs this would be a fantastic thing for the class to be doing. Especially
if well publicised.

I also think we could have some more focus on the social side, maybe have a
social committee made up of different age groups of people, and helms and
crews. This should be separate from the main committee so as people who don’t
own boats can be on the social comitie too. But maybe a rep from the committee
could report social news to the main committee.

Sorry if I’m sticking my nose in where it isn’t wanted I just thought a few
ideas would be nice

Hope to get some feedback and if anyone has any ideas please air them.
Really want to hear what people think
