Ok so while I have been trying to get to get to grips with sailing my Cheshire cat (2913) single handed i have found clearing water after a spill  challenging. I can already hear the not again groans! However i have read shed loads of advise on here so am happy to plug away with that one. This did get me thinking about floor modification! Not for 2913, that would be sacrilege! But for 3120, a tigress bought cheap for spares but to good to break. After minor fettling its now solid, but no show winner having  been renovated then 2packed for durability not aesthetics. A peculiarity of this boat is that it has buoyancy tanks under the gunnels from just behind the shrouds to the transom. I have no intention of fitting a full double bottom as I like my knees, however i understand it's previously been done leaving a gully at the bailers  so effectively having fore and aft  tanks. Does anyone have any experience of this and it's effectiveness. Many thanks Dave.

Finally took Sylvester out Sunday! Despite some initial rigging issues I loved it. Loads to learn, not least how to turn a boat facing the wrong way! I was apprehensive about sailing single handed, but despite forgetting to uncleat the jib before tacking it was fine. I even  managed to stay upright. I am fairly new to sailing and am now sure the 12 is the perfect !earning boat for me, and so much fun to boot. If like me you don't have to worry about having an ultra comparative boat I cant think of a other class where you buy an old boat and get as much bang for your buck. Can't wait to try the tigress!

Anyone seen this before? More to the point how do I replace as one side is greyed, looks to be a proctor alpha on my newly acquired 3120 tigress. The other side has been replaced by joining. Any advise would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Sylvester 3913 now in dinghy park and I am checking string. Dangly pole appears to be rigged differently to the diagrams. The end is shackled to the clew and leach is tensioned via two separate lines from the top of the pole through individual eyes positioned each side of the slide line at is bottom and out to single roller cleats just aft off the shrouds.
Total new to twelves so could I ask:

1. Is this a recognized and efficient system.

2. Is it not a disadvantage in up wind to have the pole permanently fixed to the jib.

Many thanks.

Finally going to put 2913 on the water after two years plus hanging from my garage roof.
Just wanted to know if anyone knows any history of the boat. All I know is it has evidence on the transom that it was sailed at OMSC. Many thanks Dave

Hi, I am going to be sailing Sylvester single handed. I am considering the mods needed. Anyone done this? I am thinking  of putting additional jib cleats angled on the center box just forward of crew seat. Considering moving the ram and dangly pole controls aft as well. Any mods will need to be quickly reversed to accommodate crew when available. Any advise would be appreciated.
