Did anybody notice a sinking Pudding at Burton Week? A pudding was promised at Salcombe but none appeared and activity levels on this board have reduced.

Sadly I was unable to get to Desborough this year - does anybody know the results?

I've just had another look at the (potentially)  excellent boat database. Someone has put an enormous amount of effort into creating this however it can be hugely improved by us owners and past owners putting bit more history and/or simple facts into it. How about resolving to spend just a few minutes a week to add  a bit about each Twelve you have ever owned over the years - it's really easy to add info and pictures, building up a fantastic record for the class and showing appreciation for the efforts of those who have already taken it so far - Do it yourself, if you haven't already, and encourage everyone you know with a Twelve or who has owned a Twelve to do the same.

Now that Christmas has passed you must all be itching to get sailing again. I'll be at the Bloody Mary with Adele - how many more of you will be there? Lets get a decent turnout - Twelves have had some excellent results there over years gone by - maybe a win this year?

Another Gill series has come to an end - Many of us have enjoyed some brilliant sailing and great socials - Saturday at Grafham put the icing on the cake! Well done Kevin for the organisation and running of the events.

Could you perhaps post the thoughts on the possible change of format here to ive us a bit more time to consider and to establish the views of a few more members?

A very smart looking Paper Dart has appeared on ebay with an interesting commentry -

I knew this boat in the 80's when it was certainly very well cared for - still looks in excellent shape in the photos.

See under the thread for a mast on e-bay!

A quote from the seller

"Hi. The sail number is 2489. It is a china doll design. The hull is in a sorry state, quite a few planks have sprung, the foredeck is lifting, one side deck has a broken section at the back and some rot and there is some rot at the back. Hope this helps. It would be free to anyone who can collect. Cheers Rosalind."

This boat is Electress - in the capable hands of John Hoyle she finished 2nd in the Yachting  World Silver National in 1970 - surely someone out there can save her?

The weekend is going brilliantly - The sun came out today - the wind blew. The Gill series event has been sailed for  - Tom Stewart & LIz Ross 1st, John & Katie Meadowcroft 2nd and Steve & Robby Adshead third. Lots of close racing throughout the large fleet . 77 boats today - a few more expected tomorrow though unfortunately not all of us could stay the whole weekend.

Big pursuit race tomorrow. This should be interesting. I can't decide where I would put my money - watch out for a strong showing from some very well sailed vintage boats but also Nigel Waller in the incredible evergreen Punkarella who has been showing some fantastic speed over the last couple of days.

The bouncy castle has arrived together with the sumo wrestling gear so there's entertainment for all who aren't sailing too - I wonder what the odds are on Kevan & Janet having a bounce!

That's all from me.

Good night

Emily Abbott & I represented the class in the pursuit race to mark the opening of the Weymouth & Portland Sailing academy last week. The light winds certainly helped us and we managed 5th out of 50 boats - we reckon we were 4th out of 49 classes as somehow the Sonars had managed to get 2 entries and came 1st & 3rd! We really enjoyed shooting away from the 420, laser 2000 and Laser Stratos off the line and gaining enough upwind to stay ahead off the wind. The only boat to creep past us with a couple of minures to spare was the Merlin Rocket of Dan Alsop. A Phantom did get close for a while but seemed to give up the challenge once Dan had got past him.
A great day in the sunshine was had by all and Princess Anne thought our boat looked a bit more modern than the Salcombe Yawl who was parked nearby (and came 2nd ).

Don't forget to come to the most south westerly of all Thames Area Clubs for our open meeting on 18th June. Sorry for the clash for some with a social event in Brighton but the latter will go on late I'm told, so we can do both!
For those who haven't been before Spinnaker is in the New Forest just north of Ringwood. directions are on the website - follow the link from this site. The surrounding countryside offers plenty of attractions for non participating family members so why not make a family day out if you need to earn a pass to sail on the Saturday!

First start wont be before 11.00.

Look forward to seeing lots of you there.

Well hello Graham - there's a name we haven't seen in the class lately - could it be that you're thinking of returning again and showing us how its done or is this just a passing visit? There are still plenty of us old hands in the class - come and rejoin the fun!
Sorry not to have included Punkerlla - a lovely boat but not many have sailed her! The poll format limited the selection to just 7 designs.

The addition of a dog to our family means that the flat we'd booked last year for the Yacht Club regatta (19A Fore Street - sleeps 6) has become available. We'll be further up the hill. Please  e-mai or call l for more details.I'd quite like to go back to the agent with a ready tennant - that way we don't lose so much deposit!

Book now for a brilliant holiday!
