Tabitha was sailed at Aldeburgh Yacht Club boat, owned by Miss Margaret Tudor.
Miss Tudor first sailed a 12 footers in 1934 (Delilah, R3 which eventually became N29).

If you have bought Tabitha and have changed you mind, we would love to get her back to Aldeburgh

Having spent 2 years rebuilding N760, I  am keen to get more use from the old boat. However I am not prepared to risk major damage, put an unnecessary burden on safety boats or delay other people's racing waiting for me. Unfortunately the weather forecast looks unfavourable for RHYC this weekend otherwise we would be  getting ready to go....
The 75th anniversary last year was a memorable event despite the weather, we would certainly attend similar events in the future.
I have deliberately tried to restore the boat as it would have been built and resisted the temptation to modernise the rig in any way other than Dacron sails. Overall the boat as cost very little other than time ( far less than a second hand t foil rudder).

"if" will out point anything on the river and is starting to tack onto starboard. They try to avoid ploughing the mud on a falling tide.

No Howard, he is just a drunken idiot!

Great Pictures Tim. "If" weighs about 130 times as much as a 12 foot national and is over 4 times as long yet we beat her on handicap!

Because of the Oppie open meeting and the weather forecast we will park the boats to the south west corner of the club house, NOT at the botom of the dinghy park. Acccess is via the right fork on the track, through the AYC car park continueing to the sea side of the clubhouse & marquee. There might be a metal bollard by the corner of the club house, this can be lifted out.
Camping will be at the southern (far) end of the dinghy park. Vehicle access is via the left fork onto the top of the sea wall. Its a long walk with a boat back up to the club through the dinghy park....
Home this makes sense if not call me  07889379236.
The weater forecast is looking a bit better and the sun is shining at the moment.

Please could any early campers with small tents leave the larger area clear for  big tents. I don't think there are too many of you to worry much.
Sorry but unfortunately there is not enough inertest in breakfast for the caterers to come in early. The club will be open for coffee and food from 10.00 on saturday and sunday.  I think the Bakery and Munchies will be open in the town but its a bit of a walk.
There is an Oppie open running at the club on Sunday. It has been agreed that they will use the southern slipway and we will be next to the Clubhouse.

On the subject of camper vans you are not welcome in Aldeburgh. What is wrong with the Town's Hotels? Aldeburgh has standards to maintain.
I checked with the Town Council who I believe started this nonsense, the Clerk to the Council advised that in her opinion there will be no issue with driving along the sea wall to the dinghy park, but dont slow down or stop..... Once inside the dinghy park you will be quite safe. I haven't checked with the police and in the unlikely event of a fine you are on your own.

Please could anybody planning to come to Aldeburgh let me know if they would like to eat at the BBQ on saturday night. The club uses outside caterers who like to know how much food to buy in.

Is anyone coming to Aldeburgh next weekend? Racing will commence on Saturday at 2.00 pm. weather permitting we plan to race up river at Blackheath.
An indication on the number campers would be useful or you might have to move some trailers yourselves  on saturday. Its worth coming for the free camping by the river bank alone. 2 berths on a moored yacht may still be available for the adventurous.
There will be a BBQ on saturday night
Kebabs, Spare Ribs & Minute Steaks.
Jacket Poatatoes, green salad, Tomato Feta & Basil salad, Fruity Cous Cous.
Cherry Cream Sundaes
£13.95
I need to let Sue Know numbers by tuesday. If enough people show an interest in Bacon Baps & Croissant for Sunday morning breakfast this can be arranged otherwise its coffee from 10.00. Details of the club catering and bar at http://www.aldeburghyc.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=52&Itemid=77

If you are planning to come on friday or  you need any more information please call me  07889 379236

We should be there with Bobtail. Hopefully the bucket will not be an essential piece of equipment after some planned winter repairs....

The top five in the 2010 Eastern Area Series are confrimed as:

2nd 3526 T Stewart
3rd 3457 P Pelling
4th 3348 A Gifford
5th 3500 J Garner

The counting events this year were: Waldringfield, Up River, RHYC  and Aldeburgh. Has anyone got any sensible suggestions for 2011? Is anyone interested in a vintage series next year ?
