Title: Swing spreaders tips on tuning
Post by: DuncanAdams on 03 Aug 2019, 09:10
I've just picked up paradigm 3533.
Trying to get her tunned up to a basic form of setting but whenever I pull rig tension on the mast just inverts. Seem as if the swings spreaders are not going any support.

Any tips on getting pre bend with these?
Are swinging spreader still in?

Hi Duncan
I used to have a paradigm
The details below are from memory but won't be far out.
Set up jib halyard with rake of approx 6600 mm from top of mast to middle of transom
Spreaders should be c.380mm length and with aft deflection of c.150mm measured from back of mast to line between the ends of the spreaders.
Keep mast ram eased.
Pull on shrouds equally.mmI can't remember any rig tension numbers.
This should look ok.
Swinging spreaders are fine, but I do tie a line around mine which restricts both being able to be let off at the same time,

Duncan,
If the foot of your mast is not coming down square to the mast step it will induce a bend one way or the other. If the load is coming through the front it will induce an inversion. Worth checking.
