Title: Which 12
Post by: Geth15 on 01 Mar 2019, 04:23
Hi guys I've posted on Facebook but not much luck, I'm trying to find a 12 but I'd like some help on finding which one is best for me. I'm 120kg rugby player will be single handling a lot but hopefully will have the kids out soon. I'm in west wales on a tidal estuary. Not a wooden one too. Cheers

The upper end for most design of National Twelve is around 23 Stone (approx 150 Kg). What sort of size will your kids be when they start sailing with you? My concern is whether you'll out grown the 12 too quickly.
Can you let us know if you have a particular budget in mind and what sort of sailing you are looking at doing - club racing, open meetings or just pottering with the kids?
With that info we should be able to provide some better advice
Happy sailing
Graham

Hi graham thanks for the reply, yea mostly club racing but I wouldn't rule out national events within a few hours away. They'll be 6-9 so I'd be at the higher end of the weight but I love the boat I've wanted one for a long time. Budget I'd happily pay up to 3k cheers
