Gill series # 5 - Filey

The fifth event in the National 12 GILL series took place at Filey on 7-8 July. The event was part of Filey's annual regatta, which attracted a record 175 entries this year.

Three races were sailed back to back on the Saturday in a shifty force 3. In the first race, Bernard Clark had a fantastic first beat but it was Caroline Martin + Andy Douglas who rounded the windward mark first, hotly pursued by Graham Camm + Zoë Ballantyne. Graham + Zoë overtook on the next beat and held first place to the finish.

In the second and third races, Steve Sallis + Jenny James had strong starts and battled round the course with Graham + Zoë, but Graham + Zoë pulled through to win both races, with Caroline + Andy taking third.

On the Sunday, the wind was much stronger and Steve + Jenny showed their expertise in these conditions, taking a good lead which they held to the end. In second were the Simspons with Bernard Clark in third.
